The Steese Highway spans 161 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska to Circle, a town located on the Yukon River and about 50 miles south of the Arctic Circle. The highway was completed in 1927. It is paved for about the first 80 miles. Around a town called Central it turns to dirt and gravel and becomes very narrow and windy.

Maya has not yet traversed the Steese Highway; it is on her bucket list. When she completes this highway, the page will be updated. Stay tuned!
