The Top of the World Highway begins at the junction of the Taylor Highway and spans 79 miles to its terminus at the ferry terminal in West Dawson, Yukon.

This highway was constructed in 1955 and is only open during the summer months. It was named the Top of the World Highway because it skirts the tops of the mountains giving incredible views down into valleys.

The US portion of this highway is paved from the Taylor Highway to about Chicken, Alaska. However, most of the Canadian section is unpaved.

Maya’s adventures along the Top of the World Highway include Dawson City in Yukon Canada, Chicken, Alaska and Tok, Alaska.
